Education

The Education Committee has the responsibility to nurture the members of this parish in the Word of God so as to grow in faith and hope and love, to see daily life as the primary setting for the exercise of their Christian calling, and to learn to use the gifts of the Spirit for their life together and for their calling in the world.

Ways to Serve:

  • Serve on the Education Committee
  • Coordinate/chaperone youth events and lock-ins
  • Attend/volunteer at the following programs/events:

Faith Formation (Children & Adult) is held from 10:45am (after worship) to 11:45am most weeks during the school year.  This is a time to gather in community and discuss the intersection of faith and life using various curricula.  More teachers and assistants are always needed; talk to the education chair if you are interested in serving in this way.

Ecumenical Vacation Bible School will be held jointly with The Plymouth Church, First Baptist Church of Framingham and St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and hosted by St. Andrew’s.  The theme for 2014 is Gospel Light’s SonTreasure Island VBS.

Weekly Bible Study is held during the school year, led by Pastor Leslie.  There are two weekly opportunities to gather: Tuesdays 11:00-12:00pm (@ LCF) and Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm @ Heritage Assisted Living in Framingham.  Come every week or occasionally; all are welcome!

Eve of St. Nick is an opportunity for LCF youth to spread joy and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to members and friends by secretly delivering goody bags and a message about the ministry of St. Nicholas.

Children’s Christmas Pageant is always in need of more adult volunteers to help with staging, rehearsals, and the reception that follows the performance.

Good Friday—Stations of the Cross is a program for children of all ages who have Good Friday off from school.  It is a time to learn about the happenings of Good Friday through lessons, crafts, songs, etc and review the Stations of the Cross.

Youth Quake Zone is held at the beginning of the year for Middle & High School youth.  Youth and chaperones gather with others from around New England at a Boston Hotel to worship, study, sing and fellowship together.

Hammonasset is the New England Synod Youth Gathering held each September for High School youth (Grades 8-12), but starting in 2013, they have added a family component coordinated with Calumet for up to Grade 7.  Bring your youth or family and join us for a fun weekend!
